As I child, I used to love waiting around for the ice cream truck and get my favorite cold treat, an ice cream sandwich. A happy pairing of pure vanilla and pure chocolate - simple and perfect for my taste.
Now as an adult and mom of two young ones, I relish in making childhood favorites for my family. Today, my son turns 3 years old (sniff sniff), and we can't think of a better birthday dessert than a homemade old fashion ice cream treat. Happy Birthday!
I felt like the little boy Charlie as I opened each box of beautifully crafted race car crayons, handmade by Ivy Lane Designs. (Sigh) Unfortunately, they are not for me but for my son for his upcoming third birthday party. I wanted a party favor that was eco-friendly and had some kind of race car theme (my son calls himself a speedracer). Of course, I found the perfect solution on one of my favorite sites, Etsy.
Not only are these well designed but also good for our environment conscience community - all the crayons are made with recycled/upcycled materials. The crayon colors are rich and bold - Ivy even made several pink race car ones for the girls attending the party (what a gem). And, each set is carefully packaged in a recyclable gift box.
Graphic designer, Roberto de Vicq de Cumptich, created a clever and beautifully designed alphabet book, Beebo's Zoo. While the book is a work of art on its own, the website brings the animals to life with a rich and stimulating performance. Click on any letter and watch art and typography dance, only stopping to present an animal form. It's spellbinding entertainment for children of all ages.
