Smashing. The concert left me with a greater reverence for Billy Corgan. The band's look was not dissimilar to the original. And, their sound was not dissimilar - just a bit more rock & roll, I thought. A few old favorites like Disarm, Tonight Tonight, and Bullet with Butterfly Wings surfaced, much to the crowd's pleasure. Although, I was puzzled about all the "angry people" in San Francisco. Apparently he encountered many while visiting SF. Where was he hanging out??? Anyway, the result of his experience was a lovely melody "Love & Peace" (or was it Peace & Love), a tribute to our city. Just his harmonica and guitar. I saw a couple of people recording this session - if you know where I can find it, please let me know.
I love my iPhone, but the camera works best with lots of natural light. Obviously not great in low-light situations.
Lured by a cheese and Rosé wine pairing, my husband and I attended a second class at the Cheese School. Led by Melissa Schilling and Tabitha Stroup, we (along with Mariangela, Erik, Joe, and Conny) we enjoyed fine selection of over a dozen cheeses and 6 rosé wines.
My make-my-eyes-roll-back find was a pairing of Andante Dairy Melange from Petaluma, California (cow) with Frog Hollow’s Apricot Conserve. Oh my. This reminded me of a childhood fondness for cream cheese and strawberry jam sandwiches. The Cowgirl Creamery St. Pat (cow) also went well with the Apricot Conserve. And, my wine of choice was a Rhone blend 2006 Tablas Creek Rosé – full, bright, and nice fruit.
Finally, a new term (new to me) that we should all use when speaking "cheese": rind management.
